Since 1978, we have been at the forefront of protecting assets and goods. From our historic roots in Livorno, Italy, to our expanding global footprint—including LeghornGroup India—we deliver state-of-the-art security seals, tamper-evident solutions, and RFID technology to the world’s most demanding industries.
The Journey of LeghornGroup: Decades of Dedication
The origin of our company dates back to 1978. Four friends—Luciano Grapsa, Renato Porciatti, Claudio Gisonni, and Marino Montanari—met in Antignano, just outside Livorno, to embark on a new business venture. It was Marino who proposed the name LEGHORN SHIP SUPPLY, utilizing the traditional English translation for the city of Livorno.
The Shift to Security Seals
In 1980, Renato left to open a local restaurant, which remained a beloved meeting point for the group. By 1981, under the vision of Luciano Grapsa, the company recognized a growing market demand and strategically pivoted toward supplying seals for containers. To reflect this new direction, the company became LEGHORN SUPPLIERS and began manufacturing its first metal seals.
In 1990, recognizing the immense, untapped potential of the security seals sector, Luciano Grapsa acquired full ownership of the company. To clearly define the business as a dedicated manufacturer, the word “suppliers” was dropped, leaving simply LEGHORN.
Becoming a Global Group
The ensuing decades marked a period of rapid international expansion:
- 2006: A landmark partnership with Perfra Belgium (inventors of the famous CRALUSEAL) resulted in the first overseas joint office: Leghorn-Perfra.
- 2010: Establishment of Leghorn Hellas in Greece.
- 2014: Formation of Leghorn Central Europe in the Czech Republic.
- 2016: To unify the brand worldwide, all partners agreed to adopt the name LeghornGroup. The same year, LeghornGroup Moldova was established.

The graphic design of the LeghornGroup logo recreates a classic heraldry style, loaded with the powerful symbolism of two legendary animals captured in the moment just before conflict:
- The Lion: A symbol of bravery, strength, and unshakeable loyalty.
- The Snake: A representation of slyness, tampering, and dishonesty.
The battle between these two energies is endless, but our philosophy is clear: Ubi maior, minor cessat (When something major takes over, the less important is disregarded). The lion’s strength to overcome bad intentions is the foundational spirit of innovation and protection that characterizes LeghornGroup.

As global trade expanded, the demand for highly reliable tamper-evident solutions in South Asia surged. Recognizing this critical need, LeghornGroup expanded its commercial footprint by establishing LeghornGroup India (www.leghorngroup.in).
